Many thanks for your comment. I don't think that the machine can tool change on the upper head whilst the lower turret is turning, but this is one for Okuma. Our customers / users don't do this, that much I do know. The upper head tool change station is behind a shutter door, and if this came open during machining on the lower, this would get contaminated with coolant and chips. I tried to attach the code from this program here earlier, but this is too large for RUclips to publish. Yes, but not for a long time - maybe 10 years or more. It is not a function that we get asked for a great deal. However FeatureCAM does support several strategies for this application - Flowline, Lead and Lean, From-a-curve etc.

Hi, Do you use FeatureCAM? This is 5 Axis Z Level finishing with Lean (away from the walls) applied.

Hi John, Many thanks for your comment even if a bit negative🤔. I don’t know why it is puzzling, I think that you have got the point very well. With FeatureCAM we handle all of the Machining Strategies along with the Part Probing, the Multiple Fixture setup, Tool Break Checking, the High Speed Look Ahead (G131’s with R’s or with P, M and F’s), Work Setting Error Compensation (WSEC), Customised Deep Hole Drilling macro’s etc. All of the things that the expensive systems don’t do, in a simple, very easy to use interface.

@@IndiecamCoUk I admire your commitment to your product, however it simply cannot compete with other better equipped solutions and doesn't offer anything that would tempt me to use it again.

FeatureCAM é uma das melhores soluções de usinagem já criadas (em minha opinião). Atualmente trabalho com ele aqui no Brasil e sem duvidas ele está a frente dos demais CAM de concorrentes. Claro que dependendo do produto um PowerMILL seja muito mais eficiente. Porém parabéns pelo trabalho muito bom.

You will need to obtain your machine model from Mori (if this is what you use) and you will also need the solids of the tool holder blocks too. Then this can be created as a ‘machine design’ file (.md) inside FeatureCAM. We do this for our users in the UK.

Would you have recommended workflow procedure when setting up a new MD file? As there isn't much in the way of good explaination. Do you have any training videos for how you do things?

Hi, Are you using FeatureCAM's standard Boring Bars or Solid Models from manufacturers? Also, send an e-mail to 'info@indiecam.co.uk' and I'll send some examples / idea's of what i think might be happening.

Hi Nastran, Which software are you using? In FeatureCAM you have the ability to make Machine Simulation files (.md) in the Premium and Ultimate versions, but not in the Standard version.

Hi Yousef, I don't think that Fusion 360 has full Machine Simulation just yet. This is all done with FeatureCAM.

thanks for info. OK, it seem that Feature cam is better than Fusion, for a student what you can advice me to learn? i have seen some training courses in your web-page but are they Online courses?

Hi Yousef, As a student learn Fusion 360, there are many more functions to it, Design, 3D Modelling, Generative Design, Rapid Prototyping etc. FeatureCAM is for machining only. Our Training courses are outlined for our Industry users, they pay for us to go out to train their engineers. I am afraid that we don’t have any online training courses. But if you want to learn more about FeatureCAM, go to ‘Autodesk Advanced Manufacturing’ RUclips channel, you can find many online tutorials here for FeatureCAM.

Hi Jason, Yes, we have full collision detection, but you can switch it off and on. It must have been off when that video was made. I have just watched it again and yes the jaws catch the tool holder block at around 4:54 - good spot!

Our customers acquire the solids from DMG Mori themselves, either by purchasing or negotiating, then they send them to us and we turn it into a moving working machine.

Yes, FeatureCAM now handles Swiss machining too, in the version 2018. Although we don't have any customers using it just yet.

Sorry, no I don't. Some machine manufacturers give out their machine models for cad/cam companies to use for simulation purposes. I couldn’t get any models from Hedelius, so I had to model this one myself - the old fashioned way, with a tape measure and a pencil, then model it up in FeatureCAM.
